Screw Element Removal and Screw Element Stacking Service

CTI offers Screw Element Removal and Screw Element Stacking Service for several OEM Brand Twin Screw Extruders for Screw Element Diameters up to 140 mm dia.

 

Service includes:

  • Removing of screw elements from extruder screw shafts with state of the art hydraulic screw element removing machine.

  • Cleaning of screw elements, screw tips and screw shafts.

  • Inspecting and measuring the existing screw elements and tips for wear loss (outside diameter dimension) and determine if elements and / or screw tips can be re-used.

  • Checking the screw shafts for twists, bends and determine if screw shafts are fit for future use.

  • As required, substitute new screw elements, shafts and screw tips.

  • Restacking of screw elements onto screw shafts based on customer supplied screw assembly configuration.

  • Prepare / Preserve stacked screw configuration for shipment and storage at customers site.

CTI Extruder Barrel Refurbishing Service

Besides manufacturing and offering state of the art brand new extruder barrels, suitable for high wear and corrosion resistant process applications, CTI offers Extruder Barrel Refurbishing Service for several OEM Brand Twin Screw Extruders up to 140 mm dia.

 

Service includes:

  • General physical inspection of customers worn extruder barrel.

  • Checking of internal barrel cooling water channels for correct water flow and continuity.

  • Removing worn process liner from barrel housing (sub-sequential barrel refurbishing), or machining an oval bore to accept a solid oval process liner into existing barrel housing (initial barrel refurbishing).

  • Installing a new solid oval process liner into the barrel oval bore via shrink fitting process for optimum stability and heat transfer.

  • Verifying and confirming concentricity between barrel process liner and alignment dowel pins.

  • Face grinding of barrel inlet and out let faces.

  • Prepare / Preserve refurbished barrel for shipment and storage at customers site.

After barrel refurbishing the internal processing chamber will have the same dimensional specifications as a new barrel.


Based on the required refurbishing scope (i.e. initial barrel refurbishing or sub-sequential barrel refurbishing) the cost for barrel refurbishing typically ranges between 65% to 85% of the cost of a new barrel section.

CTI Custom Design Service

Each process application can have its particular challenges and the OEM's "One Fits All" approach will just not work effectively.

When facing these situations CTI may be able to alleviate your process problems by custom designing and manufacturing better extruder process section components, i.e. custom hybrid barrel sections, custom barrel injection ports, custom barrel venting inserts and plugs, custom screw elements, custom screw tips, custom side feeders / degassing units …..etc.

CTI will jointly review with customer the current situation and limitations and search for a technical improvement solution.
CTI has reverse engineered extrusion components for many OEM brands and implemented / transferred technical design advantages from one OEM design to another OEM design.

Over the past 25 years CTI has designed and manufactured many custom solutions that significantly enhance the process performance and / or longevity performance of the OEM equipment.
